Commitment to our community

Supporting local organisations and initiatives

Being an active member of the communities we work within is a value that is extremely important to us. We have a number of local charities and not-for-profits we support, as well as a number of organisations that we are proud to provide sponsorship to.

Our Sponsorships

The Hunter Academy of Sport Scholarships support talented junior athletes in our region to have access to resources that will help to develop their skills and provide opportunities for their future in sport. Partnering with Home in Place, we recently provided 10 young people with scholarships to help them achieve their dreams by covering various costs involved in their sporting pursuits.

Grow a Star is a youth mentoring and scholarship program dedicated to helping disadvantaged young people achieve their academic, sporting or artistic dreams. The program was created by Home In Place and plays a pivotal role in nurturing young talent and setting up young people in our community with skills for life. We continue to work with Home In Place to nurture young talent in the Hunter, Central Coast, Mid-North Coast and remote Central West regions.

Merewether Carlton (also known as “The Greens”) is one of the oldest clubs in Australia, having formed in 1887. The club promotes and fosters excellence and enjoyment in rugby and in doing so, assists the progress of members along the broader pathway of life.

Coastal Fire Services and Merewether Carlton Junior Rugby Club have had a longstanding relationship, and with the help of sponsorship for the past five years, the club has been able to provide state-of-the-art training equipment and playing/training kits to over 330 registered players.

Fire & Rescue NSW hosts a Race Day annually at the Newcastle Racecourse in support of children who have been the victims of severe burns. We are proud to sponsor the event to raise money for children and their families who are recovering from serious injuries due to fire-related incidents.

The South Newcastle Lions, established in 1909, persist in fostering a culture of respectful and supportive engagement in rugby league to this day. With hundreds of registered players each year, we take pride in sponsoring a club that demonstrates exceptional values and talent.

The Scorpions are a community-minded organisation based in Toronto. They are committed to the development of players in junior rugby league. Our sponsorship of the club aids them with providing the resources for a healthy and positive sporting environment for the teams.

The Wallsend Touch Football Association’s All Abilities Program is an inclusive, fun and safe environment for players of all abilities. With a significantly lower participation rate for people living with disabilities in sports, it is important to provide safe spaces for the diverse population in our community.

Coastal Fire Services are very proud to be part of this wonderful initiative and to be involved for the first time this year with the All Abilities Program is very exciting.  Our sponsorship this year has provided the club with training equipment specifically designed to assist participants together with training kits, bags, drink bottles and footballs. Our staff also find time to get involved and volunteer to assist in training sessions with the participants.

Supporting our community

Held in May each year at the Merewether Golf Club in Newcastle, Divas in the Green is a unique event for women that supports the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation and Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. We are proud to sponsor members of our team and clients to attend the event annually.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service has been serving our community since 1975. Their services are critical in the community and save many lives each year. Our support through providing our services on a charity basis means that the organisation can continue to operate effectively in the community.

Sleapys Foundation is a charity organisation dedicated to fundraising and providing support to cancer patients and helping them through adversity. Newcastle locals, Peter and Robynn Sleap established the foundation after Peter was diagnosed with throat cancer. They aim to give compassion, generosity, and humanity back to the community and those in need.

The Sleapy’s Foundation has received support from Coastal Fire Services over the years through corporate sponsorship of a race at Sleapy’s Charity Race Day at the Newcastle Racecourse in 2022, support of the Sleapy’s Day at Townson Oval, Merewether, and a South Newcastle Rugby League Club fixture each year, alongside various community luncheons.

The Mark Hughes Foundation is a charity formed locally in Newcastle by Mark and Kirralee Hughes following Mark’s diagnosis of Brain Cancer in 2013. The foundation’s mission is to raise funds for research, create awareness and support brain cancer patients and their families.

Coastal Fire Services has been a regular contributor to the Mark Hughes Foundation over the years, supporting Charity Golf Tournaments through Hole Sponsorships and raffle prizes.
